| For our stability section on here: First look of the Puma ForeverRun 2. It appeared in a preview video of the 2025 Puma line-up on YouTube. Past tense because the video has been edited shortly after and the section with the ForeverRun was cut out. I guess that means it's still under embargo. Nevertheless they said it's going to release in February and is still going to feature a dual density set-up. I wonder if they use the new Nitro foam of the MagMax or the old formula. I liked version one but hope for an update of the foam nevertheless. submitted by Hey_There_Hello_Hi to RunningShoeGeeks [link] [comments] |

(I run a f2p first owned - standard edition) It's honestly the most fun I have playing. I can try out new formations / tactics and still spank the opposition anywhere from 4-0 to 10-1 I play all five games (six of I lose one on the off chance) and don't give any free wins cause it's the most fun I have. I mean why give free wins. People who can't even qualify don't deserve to compete in champs anyway right ? submitted by ResonatingPanda to fut [link] [comments] |
2024.12.12 23:14 HengShi Drones, trying to connect the dots: New Jersey, Lakenheath and Langley
Like everyone else on this sub I'm trying to make sense of what is going on with the "drone" situation in New Jersey. However, with so much information coming in and a lot of telephone happening I'm finding it hard to keep track of what's being reported in an official capacity and what are just unconfirmed rumors, or one off statements that have become ingrained in the lore (for example the drones taking the day off for Thanksgiving line, can be attributed to one witness who spoke to local news however this gets repeated often.)
In addition, I want to include Lakenheath and Langley in this post as they're similar incidents that have occurred in the past year, and in my opinion are related -- I could be wrong but it my view the similarities are there and I don't see the media connecting the dots so this is my amateurish attempt to do that. I'm aware of the Colorado incident in 2019-2020 but I want to focus on the past year specifically because I'm sure with enough digging other drone incidents could be found in the past four years but it becomes a bit difficult then to weed out what may or may not be related and I think Lakenheath, Langley and NJ make a better string of incidents within a relatively short period of time to speculate that they are indeed related.
I'm going to do my best to keep this post organized into what we've seen officially reported with each incident and keep my own speculation to a minimum save for one comment I'll make at the end in respect to the government's response.
Langley December 6th - 23rd 2023: 9 months ago u/Organic_Wrangler_890 reported a sighting of drones over Langley AFB on Dec. 14th 2023. Included in their post is video of said sighting, You can view the post
here.
Despite low visibility we can make out the now familiar drone-like objects that appear orblike at a distance. One seems to have red and white lights, others appear to strobe in a grouping.
Oct. 12th 2024,
The Wall Street Journal reports on the incursion at Langley.
Key facts reported by the WSJ:
- Incursion occurred over a 17 day period and would begin 45 minutes after sunset
- "They came from the north around 6 p.m. to traverse the base, which sits on a peninsula at the mouth of Chesapeake Bay, and continued south, beyond the reach of radar. They repeated the pattern and then disappeared, typically by midnight."
- U.S. Air Force General Mark Kelly described the first drone he saw as roughly 20ft. long and flying over 100 mph at an altitude of 3,000-4,000 feet
- Gen. Kelly said other drones followed and sounded like "a parade of lawnmowers"
- The drone fleet contained a dozen or more objects
- "They were much smaller than military aircraft and didn’t always show up on radar. Military personnel had to recalibrate their radar systems, which were set to ignore anything that resembled a bird."
- "Analysts learned that the smaller quadcopters didn’t use the usual frequency band available for off-the-shelf commercial drones"
- "The drones headed south, across Chesapeake Bay, toward Norfolk, Va., and over an area that includes the home base for the Navy’s SEAL Team Six and Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval port."
- Some of the drones shone small lights
- "They also were nearly impossible to track, vanishing each night despite a wealth of resources deployed to catch them." (*Though to be clear the articles doesn't describe what exactly these wealth of resources were)
- Starting on Dec. 6th local police chased the drones by car and on foot
- 3 drones appeared to land but took off before officers could reach them and "Another looked like it landed offshore. Police finally gave up."
- Sightings ended on December 23rd., however in the article U.S. officials confirmed that drones were spotted "in recent months" near Edwards AFB north of Los Angeles.
Langley incident government response: - Article revealed that two months earlier, in Oct. of 23 at least five unidentified drones incurred over Energy Department’s Nevada Nuclear Security Site outside Las Vegas a site used for nuclear weapons experiments
- Federal law prohibited the military from shooting the drones down unless they posed an imminent threat and "aerial snooping doesn't qualify"
- The drone swarm was reported to the Pentagon office of the National Military Command Center, which is responsible for dispersing emergency messages to U.S. military commanders worldwide.
- A report went to the White House Situation Room, and the president learned about it in his daily briefing
- Reports of drones reached White House setting off 2 weeks of meetings between the Department of Defense, The FBI, AARO and outside experts.
- "Homeland Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall convened the White House brainstorming sessions. One official suggested using electronic signals to jam the drones’ navigation systems. Others cautioned that it might disrupt local 911 emergency systems and Wi-Fi networks. "
- "One suggestion was to use directed energy, an emerging technology, to disable or destroy the drones. An FAA official said such a weapon carried too high a risk for commercial aircraft during the December holiday travel season."
- "Others suggested that the U.S. Coast Guard shoot nets into the air to capture the drones. An official pointed out that the Coast Guard might not have the authority to use such a weapon in this instance. Besides, the drones were too difficult to track closely."
- "Langley officials had called on U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships to keep a watch out for the drones with little luck."
- Gen. Glen Van Herck who had overseen the response to the Chinese Spy Balloon "ordered jet fighters and other aircraft to fly close enough to glean clues from the drones. He recommended that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin authorize a full menu of electronic eavesdropping and spycraft to learn more, though the Pentagon is limited in what it can do on U.S. soil." (What, if anything was learned is not shared in the article)
- Eventually the F-22s stored at the base were relocated for their safety.
Per The War Zone, in an article from March of 2024
(article here) NASA's high-altitude research WB-57F planes were brought in to investigate.
- “The WB-57 with civil registration number N927NA was on the East Coast in December to fly in support of NASA’s SpaceX CRS-29 commercial resupply services mission and image the spacecraft upon its return to Earth. While in the area, the aircraft provided additional imaging support in Virginia.”
- “The installation first observed UAS [uncrewed aerial systems] activities the evening of December 6 [2023] and experienced multiple incursions throughout the month of December. The number of UASs fluctuated and they ranged in size/configuration,” a spokesperson for Langley Air Force Base told The War Zone in a statement earlier today. “None of the incursions appeared to exhibit hostile intent but anything flying in our restricted airspace can pose a threat to flight safety. The FAA was made aware of the UAS incursions.”
In terms of official response, this is where things appear to end. What was gleaned from the incident has not been shared with the public. If reporting is to be believed, there's probably a high probability that the NASA imaging support captured these drones on film, but that's pure speculation on my part.
Finally collection of witness statments by Liberation Times in Sep. Lakenheath AFB, UK Nov. 20th - ??? 2024 BBC reporting, Nov. 23rd (article here) : - "The incidents, which occurred between Wednesday and Friday, saw "small unmanned aerial systems" spotted over RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall, in Suffolk, and RAF Feltwell in the neighbouring county of Norfolk."
- "The number of UASs fluctuated and they ranged in size/configuration.
- "The UASs were actively monitored and installation leaders determined that none of the incursions impacted base residents or critical infrastructure."
- RAF Mildenhall is primarily home to the USAF's 100th Air Refueling Wing; RAF Lakenheath is home to USAF F-35A and F-15E fighter jets, while RAF Feltwell is mainly concerned with logistics and offers housing for military personnel.
BBC reporting Nov 26th (article here): - The drones were not considered hostile, the USAF said, adding the sightings had "fluctuated and varied between the bases" and had "ranged in sizes and configurations".
- "The USAF said the vehicles were small in number and size."
Lakenheath incident government response: Unlike Langley, I haven't been able to dig up much information on what the response has been, so I'll share here what I have found, again relying on official reporting.
BBC Nov 26th article linked above:
- About 60 RAF personnel have been sent to assist the US Air Force in its investigation, the BBC understands.
- The drones were not considered hostile, the USAF said, adding the sightings had "fluctuated and varied between the bases" and had "ranged in sizes and configurations".
Via
NYTimes, Nov. 27th 2024:
- “To date, installation leaders have determined that none of the incursions impacted base residents, facilities or assets,” the statement added. “The Air Force is taking all appropriate measures to safeguard the aforementioned installations and their residents.”
- "Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, said that they were being actively monitored. “The bottom line is it’s something that we’re going to take seriously,” he added. “We’re continuing to look into it, but as of right now has not had any significant mission impact.”
- Britain was also working closely with the United States on the issue and the British government maintained “robust measures at defense sites which include counter drone security capabilities,” he added. Dozens of British military personnel were involved in the operation, according to one British official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss a security question.
Via
Military Times/Associated Press Nov. 27th:
- A criminal investigation into the drone incursion has been initiated
- "Ministry of Defense Police and local authorities are investigating the activity alongside U.S. forces, Defense Minister Vernon Coaker said in Parliament."
- "Coaker said a drone was also sited Friday flying about 250 meters from the Royal Navy’s flagship aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth as it entered the German port of Hamburg"
What the government response has been to Lakenheath is not as robust as what we've learned about Langley at present, but we do start to see some common threads emerge specifically around the "various shapes and configurations" in regards to the drone. The same language was used in both incidents, as was the stressing of non-hostile intent/lack of threat which we'll see again in New Jersey.
New Jersey Drone Sightings November - Ongoing 2024 To the best of my poor research ability, I believe the first sighting we have is on or around November 18th of 2024. It is unclear if the Lakenheath incident is "over" but it is safe to conclude that there was some overlap between Lakenheath and New Jersey. If these are indeed related incidents then we have to conclude whatever is behind these incursions has the capability to manage, what we know to be more than one drone, and in more than one configuration, in two separate continents.
As I said at the outset I wanted to minimize speculation, so I'll just leave it at that. We know drone incursions were occurring in the UK and the US at the same time at least in mid-November, and that the incursions in both incidents involved multiple drones of varying sizes and configurations.
There's a ton of info circulating around regarding Jersey, so this is the piece that'll probably have the most room for gaps, but also the area most in need of consolidating what information we can attribute to some type of official source or news reporting. I'm going to try and restrict this to the most recent official reporting as I think we've documented a lot of stories on the sub over the past few weeks.
NYTimes December 9th (article here):
- "Drone sightings have been reported in at least 10 New Jersey counties since mid-November."
- "They have been spotted flying over important infrastructure, like reservoirs, power lines and railroads, in people’s backyards and above highways."
- "They often fly in groups and emit a loud humming noise that Mr. Dunbar, 39, described as similar to the sounds made by electric cars. "
- "In Hunterdon County, officials said that drones had been seen near the county’s emergency communications center and near Round Valley Reservoir, the largest in New Jersey and a critical part of the state’s water supply."
- "On Nov. 26, drones flying near a landing zone prevented a medical helicopter from picking up a person injured in a car crash in Somerset County, according to NJ.com"
Newsweek Dec. 6th (article here): - As reported by Fox News, one family in Morris County, who followed a drone in their car, said that as the drone hovered above them, their car's clock changed time and only returned to normal as they drove off.
Fox 5 New York:
Government Response: - The sightings have prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to temporarily ban drones from flying over a military base in Morris County and a golf club owned and frequented by President-elect Donald J. Trump.
- Vito Fossella, Staten Island’s borough president, asked the F.B.I. and the F.A.A. to investigate the sightings in a letter, describing the ongoing mystery as “odd and quite bizarre,” according to reports.
- Department of Homeland Security Handout with FAQs related to the drones (scroll down to pertinent FAQs)
- Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh states there's no truth to Iran being behind NJ drones, and no evidence of foreign adversary (12/11/24):
- " -- there is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there's no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States," deputy Pentagon press secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters Wednesday. Singh said there is no evidence the drone activity is coming from any foreign entity or is the work of an adversary." (link to ABC News report)
- Notes from NJ State Representative Dawn Fantasia who attended DHS briefing yesterday 12/11/24: https://www.reddit.com/UFOs/comments/1hc1k5j/update_on_the_ufosdrones_in_new_jersey_nj_state/
- Some key takeaways from her notes:
- First Sightings: Reported on 11/18, with sightings occurring every night since then, from dusk until 11 PM (6–7 hours).
- Frequency: Reports range from 4 to 180 sightings per night.
- FBI: Designated as the lead agency for investigations.
- New Jersey State Police (NJSP): Coordinates with the FBI on follow-ups.
- Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHSP): Provides training and situational awareness.
- U.S. Coast Guard: Involved in determining steps under their jurisdiction (details not disclosed).
- NJSP deployed helicopters over Raritan Bay but could not detect drones, even with infrared cameras.
- Current radio frequencies do not pick up drone signals.
- Post to clip of deputy press secretary Singh stating the drones are not U.S. military or foreign adversary: https://www.reddit.com/UFOs/comments/1hc1l58/pentagon_no_evidence_its_any_foreign_entity_its/
- NJ Rep. claims 50 drones came in from over the ocean: https://www.app.com/story/news/local/2024/12/10/50-nj-drones-came-in-from-ocean-12-trailed-coast-guard-ship-congressman-fbi-admits-dont-know-origin/76893631007/
Some personal takeaways I've strung together from these incidents:
- Government response seems consistent in insisting this is not a threat
- At least Langley and Lakenheath had drones of varying sizes and configurations (I swear I saw the same language applied to Jersey but could not find a source)
- Across all three incidents the drones appear a little after sunset and remain airborne for 6 to 7 hours (with reporting showing up to midnight in Langley, around 11 in the U.K. and similar in Jersey)
- Behaviors range from hovering, to "scanning", to traveling in particular directions night over night.
- Drones appear to make a sound (lawnmoweelectric car)
- Difficulty in picking them up on radar, infrared, and apparently no radio signals either.
- Recorded from a distance as can be seen in the Lakenheath, Langley, and some of the NJ videos they appear orb like - closer up video shows strobing as well as red, white, green, and blue light configurations
- In none of the incidents has law enforcement or military been able to track the drones to their source of take off or where they go back to (though "offshore" was used in Langley story, and coming from the direction of the ocean in the Jersey incident)
- At least two one-off witnesses describing interference with hardware (an unnamed families car clock, podcast hosts' personal drone)
So that's my best effort to consolidate the information from official sources around what we "know" about the drones. My own speculation I'm going to try and limit. There's no doubt that we aren't being given a full accounting of what's going on and that's going to be the case in the immediate future especially as the investigation continues. The "why" is and will continue to be guessed at by everyone on the sub.
For me a couple of things have stuck out, primarily a lack of clarity around jurisdiction. In Langley and Lakenheath we see a military response for what I hope are obvious reasons. For New Jersey it's being made clear that the FBI is the lead. What is sticking in my craw, is that the FBI was involved in the Langley investigation, it seems odd to me that nothing was learned from that incident and that that info is not being shared with the field office in charge of the Jersey investigation. So this raises two possibilities for me: either what's publicly being shared is not the full picture of the drone incursions, or we're seeing a pre-9/11 breakdown in interagency communications,
Secondly it seems existing regulations are hampering respective agency responses to what's in the air. National Guard seems to have protocols in place for addressing say Cartel drones, but no protocols in place for unidentified drones that appear non-hostile even if they're where they are not supposed to be. The military seems to be hamstrung by engaging over civilian populations, and the local authorities seem hamstrung by federal regulations, aside from the difficulties reported in tracking/approaching these drones.
My final bit of speculation is that it feels very much like the Biden Administration is happy to let this be the next administration's problem with a case of senioritis setting in as the clock winds down on the administration. We're a couple of weeks away from the holidays and essentially there's very little incentive on this White House to tackle what, if Lakenheath and Langley are related, a problem that will go away on its own and the public will be more than happy to leave the question unanswered.
Hope somebody finds this post helpful, I'm personally annoyed at the lack of information and in that vacuum seeing facts twisted either to make them more fantastic than they are, or completely downplay to offer a low effort debunk that basic facts can rule out. I'll end this with a sentiment that's popped up a lot especially around the Jersey case and that is this is really weird.
Edit: news is moving fast so updating with link to NJ.com piece that actually moves the Jersey timeline to 11/13/24 with sighting over Picatinny Arsenal;
https://www.nj.com/monmouth/2024/12/drones-reported-over-2nd-nj-military-facility-navy-says.html Edit 2: New Wall Street Journal article that at least draws up the possibility of being connected to Langley incident:
